On Day 6 of our “Christmas Goodies,” we shall reflect on The Christmas Candles
WHAT IT IS?
The Christmas Candles, are also, one of the easily identifiable and recognizable symbols of this Festive Season
WHAT ELEMENTS CAN WE LEARN FROM THIS CHRISTMAS GOODIE -“THE CHRISTMAS CANDLES?”
- The Candles point directly to Jesus, the light of the World
Christmas is and is to be all about Christ.
Jesus said in John 9: 5, “I am the Light of the world”
The Christmas Candles are a reminder that Jesus Christ is to be the light of our lives – in all our actions, thoughts – He is to radiate and illumine
- The Candles invite us to dispel darkness
Candles are used to shun away the dark and usher in light
Each candle reminds us of the need to become persons who cast away darkness and gloom from the lives of people
- The candle reminds of sacrifice
The Candle gives its radiance, by self-emptying
As the wax burns, the candle gives light. There is no joy without sacrifice; there is no fruit without pain
The Candle challenges us to burn our lives, in service of others. As the saying goes, “it’s better to wear out, than to rust out!”
- The Candles remind of our service, devotion and duty to the Liturgy
In Exodus 25: 31, we read God telling His people, “And you shall make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same.”
The Candles were used at Liturgy; in the worship of the Almighty God
Our life is to be centered on the Eucharist and the Candles tells us that we are under an obligation to live a Eucharistic Life.
WHAT RESOLUTIONS CAN I PRACTISE TODAY?
Today I will seek to enthrone Jesus as the Light of my Life and make efforts to radiate Him in all what I do
Today I will seek to give my life out in service to others – be it small or great, in imitation of Christ, who melt Himself totally, for love of me
Lord, may my life, like the Christmas Candle, illumine to spread the light of Your Love and Hope to all, Amen!
MARANATHA – _COME, LORD JESUS!
We welcome you into our hearts! God Bless!
